Mental health is just as important to maintain as physical health, and yet, chronic mental health conditions are treated often as failings of moral character or conscious choices that can be overcome through “force of will”.
Neither of these approaches is validated by research or practice. An integration of neurological and psychological principles reveals that much of the current epidemic of mental health concerns are the result of unaddressed trauma and stress, often coupled with neurotypeal disadvantages from existing in hostile environments.
Consider the physical damage that one can suffer from walking around on a broken leg: it hurts horrible, heals badly, and will cause problems for the rest of their life.
Unaddressed trauma creates exactly the same conditions to the physiological structure of the brain.
While we would love to assist the public in addressing these concerns, we will be shuttering this site to provide services in other capacities.
So long and thanks for all the fish.
